Support the San Mateo Library

Welcome!

The San Mateo Public Library Foundation (SMPLF), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, was established in 1994 to raise support for the San Mateo Public Library. The Foundation connects with community members from all walks of life, sharing information about the Library, by way of securing donations that supplement City of San Mateo financial allocations. By enhancing these funds, the SMPLF and its donors have contributed to the success of a flagship Library in our region.

Donors like you help us bridge the gap between what City funding provides and what the public needs from a 21st century institution. For instance, our successful 6th Annual Author’s Gala recently raised funds to cover the basic costs of a new Library outreach vehicle. We’re excited to watch as this “pop-up Library” unfolds!

We’ve now set a goal to raise $100,000 by June 30th, 2017 to support the Summer Learning Challenge, customizations for the outreach vehicle, and other important Library initiatives. Our campaign is already well underway due to a $10,000 gift from The Elliott Family! We hope you will join these valued supporters by contributing today. All donations will help the Library strengthen our region through literacy and learning.

Summer 2017 Campaign Update

Can you help us meet our $100,000 goal by June 30, 2017? Please make a gift today to support customizations for a new “pop-up Library” outreach vehicle, as well as this summer’s important programs for youth. Your generosity will make all the difference!

Sixth Annual Author’s Gala – Thank You!

On April 29th, the SMPLF Literary Society presented this year’s signature fundraiser. The event featured award-winning author Armistead Maupin (Tales of the City) and also celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the new Main Library.  Over 200 Library supporters raised funds to cover the basic costs of a new outreach vehicle. We are grateful to all who attended!
